SATURDAY - Aug 8, 2026!!
Celebrate Opening Day of our 29th Fall semester with a free day of community classes in Traditional Dance, Percussion (Bomba & Plena), and Children's Coqui Dance.
Everyone from any culture or background is welcome!
No experience in these wonderful arts required!

Cocobalé (Danza de Guerra) is a rare Afro-Boricua Warrior Arts using sticks and machetes from our Bomba ancestral traditions. Created by enslaved Afro-Ricans before the 19th century, the fighting technique is accompanied by Bomba music and dance.
Other traditions taught include Calinda, Juego de Mani and Cocolembe at various levels.
Two distinct programs teach Cocobale, one for Bomba performance and another for the non-performance enjoyment of sparring.
