Overview

Join us for an evening of cocktails, conversation, and immersive experiences to build our power and end solitary confinement in Maryland. This strategic and soulful gathering celebrates the exclusive one-night-only Baltimore stop of the national Journey to Justice Tour and its powerful mobile museum.

About This Event

Tyranny doesn't always announce itself with marching armies; sometimes, it takes root in the quiet, crushing confines of a concrete box. Here in Maryland, the torturous practice of solitary confinement persists. As it expands, our movement must meet it with equal resolve.

Join the Unlock the Box Campaign, the Chris Wilson Foundation, Look2Justice, and Torture FreeMD for "Cocktails for Change" — a rallying point for all who refuse to accept injustice.

Connect with experts and organizers, plus experience the Journey to Justice Bus: a 40ft school bus transformed into a mobile museum by directly impacted people and award-winning producers. Step aboard for immersive audio, VR experiences, and a life-size solitary cell that makes the human cost of this practice impossible to ignore.

The evening includes a special video message from Dr. Angela Y. Davis, a policy-focused fireside chat with leading experts, and a movement mixer with art and immersive exhibits. Come raise a glass, connect with fellow change-makers, and join a movement at the very core of the fight for justice.

Details and Registration

Tickets are free, but be sure to !

Regardless of organizing experience or familiarity with the issue of solitary, all are welcome! Doors open at 5:30pm, at which time the bus will be available for walkthrough as well — be sure to give yourself enough time to experience it! At 7pm, we'll hear from Dr. Angela Y. Davis and other organizers via video, and then our expert panelists will engage each other in a fireside chat.

We look forward to seeing you there!
