Join the Conservation Council/Nashwaak Watershed to cleanup precious migration zones and get involved with citizen science bird watching!
About this Event

The Conservation Council of New Brunswick welcomes you to Neil's flatt for a morning of riverside cleanup and birding! Our goal is to help out our bird populations precious feeding, nesting and resting spots around the province, in partnership with the Nashwaak Watershed Association!


During this event you will learn how to use current standard birding applications such as Merlin and eBird by Cornell, as well as iNaturalist. Your guides Erinn and Islay and folks from the Nashwaak Watershed assosiciation will also be teaching shorebird identification and how your birding observations contribute to citizen science initiatives across Canada such as the Backyard Bird Count and continuous at-risk species monitoring.


Things to bring:

  • Reusable Water bottle (try to bring a minimum of 2Litres)
  • Snacks, try and reduce your waste when you choose your snack!
  • Comfortable clothes for the weather: Hat, warm or cool clothing, rain jacket if raining. Gloves if you have them ( we will also provide)
  • Comfortable shoes that you arent afraid to get wet or dirty.
  • Any emergency medications you may require for allergies, asthma etc.
  • Charged cellphone - Take photos!
  • Binoculars if you have them, limited quantities provided


Accessibility: This event is held on a riverbank, the terrain will be tree roots and and only accesible by foot. Please keep your needs in mind when attending this event.
