About this Event

How can we all support each other to grow neighbourhoods and communities where people feel safe, valued, and ready to join in?

If that question speaks to you, we'd love you to join us.

This is a gathering for people who are building inclusive, active communities — VCSE organisations, residents, and local authority colleagues who believe that real, lasting change starts from within communities. People who are ready to go further, connect more deeply, and help build a wider movement across Eastbourne and East Sussex.

To help us express how the sum of the parts is greater than the whole, we are creating a shared piece of art across the four workshop days that reflects the interconnectedness of our communities across East Sussex and how we all need each other. Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi.

Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold, honouring the beauty in what has been broken and made whole again. We'd love you to bring a piece of that story with you.

Please bring with you a piece of broken pottery. It will become part of something much bigger — a collective artwork that weaves together the stories, strengths, and spirit of communities across our county.

This workshop is for you if you:

  • Are involved in community-led change and want to go deeper
  • Want to connect with others across East Sussex who share your values
  • Are curious about how we build a movement, not just a project
  • Believe communities are strongest when they lead the way
