About this Event
"ANSI 117.1 Building Blocks: Understanding the Design Impacts of the latest Updates to the NYS codes for Accessibility (1 AIA LU/HSW)"
Join us for an engaging 60-minute session exploring the accessibility changes resulting from the adoption of the 2025 New York State Building Code and the integration of the 2017 ANSI 117.1 standards. We’ll cover the significant updates to accessible design, including the expanded wheelchair turning radius requirements (from 5'-0" to 5'-7"), and revisions to other clearance and maneuvering dimensions. Many of the “rules of thumb” we have relied upon for ADA compliance are about to change — and we’ll walk through what those changes what to watch out for on upcoming projects.
Bullet points:
· New York State Building Codes
· ANSI 117.1 standards
· Accessibility Changes

2. Summarize and compare the application of ANSI 117.1 and the ADA Standards for Accessible Design.
