Discover Surf Life Saving at Nelson Surf Life Saving Club's Open DaySunday, November 2nd, 2025 | 10 AM – 1 PM | Tāhunanui Beach
Come along and see what surf life saving is all about at our annual Open Day! Whether you’re new to the beach, looking for something active for the kids, or keen to volunteer and be part of a strong local community, this event is for you.
Everyone’s welcome — individuals, families, and all ages. It’s a great chance to meet the team, ask questions, and get a feel for what it’s like to be part of Nelson Surf Life Saving Club.
On the day, you can:
* Learn how to join and what programs are available
* Get info about our Junior Surf programme - and the kids can get
in and try it out!
* Hear about Senior Surf Sports and competitions
* Find out what’s involved in becoming a lifeguard
* Check out club uniforms and gear
* See how you can get involved as a volunteer or supporter
We’ll have fun activities running throughout the morning — including beach games, board paddling, and a chance to check out some of the equipment we use, including IRBs.
🌭 And of course, there’ll be a free BBQ to keep everyone fuelled up.
When: Sunday, November 2nd, 10 AM – 1 PM
Where: Tahunanui Beach (look for the club tents and flags)
