After a two-year orbit, PollyHill and Samara Alofa offer their long-awaited sonic collaboration AQUARIES back into the collective ether, with reimagined remixes by local legends including Mokotron, Caru, Amamelia, and a new live show taking the timeless sound into fresh atmospheres. The new show will take shape as a curated experience with the pair playing out the album and the remixes, moving from insular head bopping to extraterrestrial dancefloor pulsation.
Focussed on sonic world building with the extended AQUARIES project, PollyHill and Samara Alofa maintain a timeless soundscape; an otherworldly odyssey fusing minimal electronica, trip hop, and alternative R&B, on collision course with the club, grime, and jungle remixes. The pair have supported Kae Tempest, Arlo Parks and Kamal Williams.
Tāmaki Makaurau based, self-taught musician, producer and filmmaker, PollyHill, masterfully crafts projects that transcend trip hop, alternative R&B, rap and intricate otherworldly soundscapes. Starting as a vocalist in the hip-hop sphere and making a name for herself in the Tāmaki underground, PollyHill has since become a unique and acclaimed music producer with a very specific cinematic ethereal sound.
An icon in many communities of Tāmaki Makaurau, Samara Alofa has been creating sonic worlds through composing, producing and performing, in music, film and theatre spaces for most of their life. Multifaceted and fundamentally experimental in the layers of their creativity, Samara Alofa is a pillar and future legend of queer Pacific storytelling in Aotearoa.
