CLSA Conference and AGM Friday 9th October 2026
About this Event

The CLSA Annual Conference returns for 2026, bringing together criminal law solicitors and professionals from across England and Wales for a full day of insight, discussion and connection.

This year’s theme is Beyond the Headlines: Truth, Justice and the Future of Criminal Law.
Criminal law is rarely far from public attention. From media coverage and political debate to advances in technology, changes in evidence and continued pressures across the justice system, those working in criminal practice are operating in an increasingly complex environment.
The CLSA Annual Conference 2026 will look beyond the headlines to explore the realities behind the issues shaping criminal justice today, and what they mean for the future of criminal law.
Programme highlights
This year’s programme will feature a range of respected voices from across criminal law, justice, technology and public life.
Confirmed speakers and sessions include:
Joanna Hardy-Susskind, Barrister, Red Lion Chambers
Returning to the CLSA conference following her highly regarded session last year, Joanna will bring her sharp insight and practical perspective to the programme.
Jason Pitter KC and Dr Patrick Quinn
A session bringing together legal and specialist expertise to explore issues of real importance to criminal practitioners.
Jessica Ritchie, Inside Justice
A valuable opportunity to hear from Inside Justice on its work investigating alleged miscarriages of justice and supporting those who may have been wrongly convicted.
Alfie Moore
Comedian, former police officer and creator of the BBC Radio 4 comedy series It’s a Fair Cop, Alfie will bring a distinctive and engaging perspective to the day.
Mary Pryor KC and Caroline Liggins, QWAG
A session focused on child advocacy and representation, looking at the important issues involved in representing children and young people within the criminal justice system.
Tech Panel
Chaired by Mike Leeman, with Alex Hutchinson, Adam Makepeace of Bedrock and Richard Dawson, this session will explore technology, AI and the practical implications for criminal lawyers.
Further speaker announcements, including this year’s keynote speaker, will be released in due course.
