About this Event
Climate-Nature-Indigenous Peoples Nexus Symposium
The Climate–Nature–Indigenous Peoples Nexus reflects the deep and reciprocal connections among climatology, the environment and indigenous communities. It recognises that indigenous peoples have long served as custodians of nature, maintaining ecosystems through indigenous knowledge that emphasises balance, interdependence and respect for the natural world. Understanding this interconnectedness is essential to addressing global climate challenges in ways that are both just and sustainable. To achieve this, an interdisciplinary approach that integrates scientific, social and indigenous knowledge should be adopted. The Climate–Nature–Indigenous Peoples Nexus Symposium seeks to examine how these interconnected relationships can inform climate education, training, public awareness, participation and access to information, in line with the principles of the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement.
