Climate Change Mitigation, Coastal Sand Dunes, and Biodiversity
Hear from local experts about the importance of coastal dunes systems and community work locally protecting and restoring dunes:
- Geoff Wood - Stratigrapher, on the importance of sand dunes and coastal vulnerability due to climate change.
- Danny Millbanks - Coastal Conservation Officer, on the importance of dune vegetation, stability and biodiversity in coastal dunes systems.
- Semaphore Largs Dunes Group about their work in caring for the sand dunes along this section of the coast.
You will have a chance to do some light weeding followed by morning tea at 11am.
MEET at 9.30am the shelter shed south of The Largs jetty.
What to wear/bring:
- Sun protection (hat, suncream, sunglasses)
- Raincoat (if wet weather is forecast)
- Warm layers that can be added/removed for comfort
- Filled water bottle
- Personal items such as medications eg puffers
