Cliff Eberhardt Songwriting Workshop

Cliff Eberhardt is a master song craftsman and one of the most entertaining performers you’ll ever see. He emerged from the New York City folk scene in the 80s to record a total of nine internationally released albums. His songs have been recorded by Richie Havens, Shawn Colvin, Lucy Kaplanski, Russ Taff, Erasure and many others. More recently, Cliff wrote and performed completely new music for the Folger Theatre’s (Washington, DC) production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, which was widely acclaimed and won the Helen Hayes Award in 2013. In 2018, Cliff was hired by Aaron Posner and The Roundhouse Theater in MD to write and perform in a modern re-telling of the Sophocles play, "Philoctetes" - called "The Heal". "The Heal" debuted at the Getty Villa in Malibu on September 5th, 2019.
Cliff is known for his distinctive melodies, his often raucous guitar, and his gritty, emotional vocal delivery. He’s been performing since he was seven years old.
Not all great singer-songwriters are great instructors, but Cliff is exceptionally gifted as a teacher. He has been instructing for decades all over the country and is a fixture at Swannanoa Gathering, Summer Acoustic Music Week, and others. His workshops are as entertaining as they are enlightening.
WORKSHOP DETAILS:
The workshop will start promptly at 1pm on Saturday, August 1, and will run until around 4pm. Depending on the weather and other factors, the instruction will take place either outside or in the farmhouse. We will limit the number of participants to ten.
The cost for the workshop is $50, payable at the beginning of the session. Cash, check or Venmo.

WHAT TO BRING:
Your instrument, a water bottle (we'll have cold water for you). You may wish to bring a notebook and a pen. It would be best to bring a song that you're working on; if you're stuck, Cliff can almost certainly help get you moving forward with it.
PERFORMANCE SPOT FOR ATTENDEES:
Cliff and Louise Coombe will be performing at 8pm after the workshop. Any attendee who wishes to perform that evening will get a spot on the stage about 20 minutes after the main event. We can guarantee at least one song for each attendee, and possibly more if time allows.
