TIME: 10am-Until
LOCATION: Marion, NC
MEET-UP: 9am at West End Diner 1016 Jamestown Rd Morganton
BACKSTORY:
- Veteran
- Lived on family land in Spruce Pine.
Pond & creek overflowed flooding the valley where the house, 5 horses and 13 hunting dogs were located.
- He lost his dogs and all but one of his horses
- Tree fell on the house and he was pinned for over three hours
- Has not received any financial assistance because the representatives cannot get to the home since both small bridges were washed out
- Nov 2024 his last remaining horse kicked him in the chest forcing him into emergency surgery and installation of a pacemaker
- Gifted a donated camper that is now on the land of a friend without power hookup
- we donated a gas powered generator
- he has had major complications with the pacemaker and is shed for surgery 1/3/26
- the friend with the land has an older mobile home on the property and is willing to let him stay there rent free he just has to clean it up and get it ready to live in
- he cant work and is terribly weak

Probably 3-4 pick up trucks of trash to be hauled off.
We will also be tearing up carpet, old linoleum, scrubbing down walls, cabinets, countertops, bathroom fixtures.
NEEDS:
- Hands & willing-able bodies
- We have 2-3 pick up trucks but could use a couple more
- Work gloves for yourself
The Heroes Among Us will provide lunch!!
- Chili/soup, fresh baked sourdough bread
- Water
- Hot coffee
We have donated carpet & tile to replace AFTER we get the cleanup done.
