About this Event
Kids Intro to Ceramics: Pinch Pots
February 7th | 🕓12pm - 1pm Utility Works | 32 E Baltimore Ave, Lansdowne, PA
Join us at Utility Works Creative Community, and get hands-on with clay in this fun, kid-focused introduction to ceramics! In this single-session class, young artists will learn the basics of handbuilding with clay using a simple and classic technique called pinch pots.
Pinch pots are an easy, approachable way to explore clay. Kids will start by shaping a basic form and, as their confidence grows, can choose to turn it into something more imaginative, like a bowl, cup, animal, or small sculpture.Â
No prior experience needed. The class is open to kids ages 6+. Parents for kids 6-13 are asked to stay; parents are welcome to play along, though will not be given individual guidance.Â
This class encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and hands-on exploration in a supportive and playful environment.
Meet the Instructor:
Hunter Fussell is a multimedia artist and instructor for neurodivergent (and occasionally neurotypical) artists looking for ways to use their voice to create a body of work that is both functional and brings joy throughout its formation. They have studied many art forms and have a degree in Fine Art from Earlham College. As a teacher, Hunter practices patience and active listening to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students. In the classroom, Hunter will work with students individually to broaden their understanding of the work we can create and how to prioritize the process over the end product.
Ages:
Recommended for ages 6+, with anyone age 6-13 welcome with an accompanying adult to supervise 1-on-1 for the duration of the class.
