Classic Sauces: Ragù Bolognese Class

About this Class: It’s time to get your hands messy! In our hands-on format, you’ll be diving right in and making your dish with ingredients prepared by our Eataly kitchens. Our Scuola Chef will prepare a curated antipasto for you to taste before class + all the steps to make our iconic ragu bolognese to take home! Then, enjoy ragu bolognese prepared by Chef Fabio paired with wine.

Is Bolognese sauce a ragu or is vice-versa? First things first, a ragu sauce is an Italian meat-based sauce. Typically made from an array of meats like veal, beer, lamb, pork, fish or poultry, with a small incorporation of tomato sauce and minced elements. A Bolognese sauce is a variation of ragù but uses less tomato sauce and white wine. With the diverse meat options to use in the sauce, there are endless variations to create any type of ragù. Join us at La Scuola with Chef to explore the world of ragù and learn how to prepare for your new favorite at home dish!

In this Class You Will:

• Learn about the traditions and culture of Bologna

• Observe as our Scuola Chef teaches the group how to make Ragu

• Make your own sauces by hand

• Enjoy a menu featuring an antipasto and wine pairing, as well as your own finished sauce to take home

• Classes are also suitable for children 8+ who are passionate about Italian cuisine. Must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
