Step into the elegance and artistry of the Golden Era of Belly Dance, a time when the classic style of Raks Sharqi reigned supreme on the stages of the Cairo Opera and in iconic Egyptian films.
In this immersive workshop, Nadirah Johara, a seasoned performer and educator with over 20 years of experience in Middle Eastern Dance, will guide you through:
✨ Increasing your knowledge of the rich vocabulary and presentation of this era.
✨ Discovering what made this era great and how to project your unique talent in performance.
✨ Exploring the vital connection to the culture behind the dance.
✨ Learning an exciting choreography to the famous song Andah Aliek, featuring classic vocabulary and musical dynamics.
You’ll be inspired by the legacies of Golden Era dancers to “take a risk” in your own future performances, embracing their elegance, artistry, and individuality.
What to Bring:
* A chiffon veil (silk chiffon preferred, 4 yards recommended; 3 yards will work) - We will have some available to lend at the studio.
* A stretchy headband (a full-circle one, like a sweatband)
* A small chiffon scarf (similar to a neck scarf)

With extensive training in the U.S. and Egypt, Nadirah has dedicated her career to performing, teaching, and choreographing in various locations across the U.S. She is passionate about preserving the history of Middle Eastern Dance while inspiring dancers to shine in their own way.
