This class is taught by the artist Sarah Rehmer who will be exhibiting her work in the Anne Lloyd Gallery in April 2025.
This versatile medium of beeswax and pigment is worked with in a molten state, but can be heated to manipulate the surface, carved back into, and layered for visual depth. This workshop is designed for students new to the encaustic medium, providing a hands-on introduction to the materials and working methods for encaustic. Gain a solid foundation of the basics, and the confidence to continue exploring encaustic beyond the workshop. Alternating between demonstrations and working time, learn how to set up your workspace and use the materials and equipment safely, as well as explore basic painting techniques and heat gun fusing methods.
All paints, tools, and substrates are supplied with registration fee.
Skill Level | No prior experience with encaustic necessary.
