CivicCon invites local civic organizations to a breakfast workshop with Seth Kaplan, a leading expert on fragile states.
About this Event

CivicCon invites local civic organizations, including neighborhood associations, to a special breakfast workshop with Seth Kaplan, a leading expert on fragile states and author of Fragile Neighborhoods. This interactive session will explore the growing breakdown of American communities and, more importantly, what local leaders can do to reverse it.

Kaplan’s work highlights the critical role that strong local institutions and social ties play in helping communities thrive. Civic organizations and neighborhood associations are central to this effort, building trust, strengthening networks and creating the conditions for neighborhoods to grow from the ground up.

This small group workshop is designed as a shared learning experience. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the real challenges they are seeing in their organizations and communities, exchange ideas with peers and explore practical strategies for building stronger, more resilient neighborhoods.

Seth Kaplan will also deliver a free public CivicCon presentation in Pensacola on Tuesday, April 14 (Register for that here). This breakfast gathering offers a more focused setting for civic leaders to engage directly with the ideas from Fragile Neighborhoods and apply them to their work.

Join us for a meaningful conversation about how civic organizations can help rebuild the social fabric that keeps our communities strong. Breakfast will be provided. This event is free, but seating is limited, so please register to confirm your attendance.

Seth Kaplan is a leading expert on fragile states. He is a professional lecturer in the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, senior advisor for the Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFTT), and consultant to multilateral organizations such as the World Bank, U.S. State Department, U.S. Agency for International Development, and OECD, as well as developing country governments and NGOs.
