City Gurlz Hike: Beginner Birding Walk
About this Event
🌱 Love nature?
🐦 New to birding?
🦋 Interested in meeting other women of color and ladies in the city who love the outdoors?
Join City Gurlz Hike for our next event: a beginner birding walk and picnic at Heron's Head Park with support from our special sponsor, ! 🦆
City Gurlz Hike will lead a beginner birding and naturalist walk through Heron's Head Parks, a once-neglected part of the City that has been restored into a thriving wetland where shorebirds have returned.
After intros and a quick stretch close to the parking lot, we will make our way to the EcoCenter at Heron's Head Park for a quick tour of the facility and conservation efforts in the area. Then we will start exploring Heron's Head to spot shorebirds and other wildlife along the trail. This is meant to be a slow & steady walk where we can immerse ourselves in our senses! Post-birding walk, we will have a picnic and discussion along the shoreline. Remember to bring your own packed lunch!
Nocs is supporting our event with binoculars to borrow for the duration of this event, so don't worry if you don't already have a pair! Nocs Provisions was born here in San Francisco, with a vision to create a fun and new binocular brand that would be inclusive to humans of all ages and abilities, combining supreme quality and a touch of style for the modern day adventurer.
This event is for beginner birders; please be mindful to make space for folks who haven't had the opportunity to go birdwatching before or are new to it. 💗
