City Day

The 41st annual City Day event will take place on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5 - 8 pm in Washington Park. This year's celebration will expand on past year's, offering interactive tables with City departments, community organization booths, activities, games and more.
We love the City of Groton and take pride in providing top-notch services for our residents. We also love showing and telling you all about what we do here in the City. City Day is a celebration of all things City of Groton and an opportunity for City employees to showcase what their departments are responsible for and what they do within the City and Groton Utilities.
We offer a menu of delicious and reasonably priced food items - all cooked and served up by our elected officials, department heads and volunteers.
A DJ will be there all evening to keep the celebration in high gear; and the winner of the Jacqueline Nixon Community Service Award will be announced.
Booths and Entertainment will include:
- City department booths
- Kids Zone and bounce houses
- cARTie Art Museum Craft Bus
- Kid-friendly hands-on science activities from Pfizer
- Mobile lab and activities from Electric Boat
- Helmet giveaway from the Elks
-Touch-a-truck with City vehicles (Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works, Groton Utilities)
- Community Partner Booths including Bill Memorial Library; Groton Congregational Church; Children First Groton; GASP/LLHD; Sacred Heart School; Aluminum Falcons Robotics; Black Business Alliance; Riverfront Children's Center; Community Speaks Out; and more being added weekly!
