About this Event

Step inside one of Halifax’s most historic and imposing landmarks for an unforgettable evening of history, legend, and hands-on paranormal investigation.

The Ghost Hunt Workshop at Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is a guided educational experience presented by Paranormal Phenomena Research & Investigation (PPRI) as part of the 2026 Halifax Paranormal Symposium. This special after-hours event combines a private ghost tour of the historic fortress with a structured paranormal investigation led by experienced paranormal investigators.

Perched high above downtown Halifax, the Citadel has stood at the centre of the city’s military history for generations. After the gates close and darkness settles over the fortress, 30 participants will have the rare opportunity to explore its history, legends, and reported paranormal activity.

Event Schedule

Saturday, October 17, 2026
9:30 PM – 12:00 AM (Midnight)

9:30 PM – 10:10 PM | Private Ghost Tour
The evening will begin with a private ghost tour of the Halifax Citadel led by Citadel staff. Participants will explore the historic fortress while hearing about its military past, the people who lived and worked within its walls, and some of the stories and legends associated with the site.

10:10 PM – 12:00 AM | Paranormal Investigation
Following the tour, participants will transition into a structured paranormal investigation led by experienced paranormal investigators. The group will be divided into smaller teams and rotate through designated areas of the Citadel for hands-on investigative sessions.

What to Expect

During the ghost hunt workshop, participants will:

  • Learn basic investigative techniques used in modern paranormal research
  • Receive instruction on equipment such as EMF meters, digital voice recorders, environmental monitoring devices, and spirit communication tools
  • Participate in small-group investigation sessions throughout designated areas of the historic fortress
  • Learn how investigators document, assess, and interpret potential anomalous experiences
  • Discuss observations and investigative findings in real time with experienced paranormal investigators

This is not a theatrical haunted-house experience. The focus is educational, interactive, and grounded in responsible investigative methodology. Participants will experience firsthand how a structured paranormal investigation is conducted within one of Atlantic Canada’s most historically significant locations.

Whether you are a curious newcomer or a seasoned paranormal enthusiast, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to experience the Halifax Citadel after hours while learning the techniques used in contemporary paranormal field investigation.

Important – Dress for the Weather

The Halifax Citadel is a historic fortress and portions of this event may take place outdoors or in areas that are unheated and exposed to the elements. October evenings in Halifax can be cold, damp, and unpredictable. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable, sturdy footwear suitable for walking on historic and potentially uneven surfaces.

Space is limited to 30 participants.
