Complete the whole 20 mile route over a weekend, guided by Cotswold Voluntary Wardens
About this Event

Join Cotswolds Wardens to do the whole 20.5 miles of the Circuit of Bath over one weekend. You can do one day, either day or both days. We have trained guides available to assist people with visual impairments - please get in touch to discuss.

Day 1 Odd Down to Batheaston via Englishcombe, Weston, Lansdown and Solsbury Hill (11.2 miles)

Please bring a packed lunch.

This is the first of two walks over a weekend to walk the whole of the Circuit of Bath route. We start from the Odd Down Park and Ride, do remember to pay for parking, and walk to the pretty village of Englishcombe.

From there we follow the Newton Brook towards Bath Mill for a short while before climbing towards Carr’s Wood. Then we head towards Weston and start the climb up to Lansdown, checking the views as we go. We stay on the plateau for a bit before descending to the Woolley Valley. From there we climb towards Upper Swainswick and then onto Little Solsbury Hill, where we can savour the views back towards Bath. From there we descend towards Batheaston our end point for the day.

Guided by your walk leaders we will return to the start point using public transport. Bring snacks and a packed lunch.

Day 2 Batheaston to Odd Down via Bathampton Meadows, the Kennet and Avon Canal, Brassknocker Basin and the Somerset Coal Canal (9.4 miles)

Please bring a packed lunch.

This is the second of two walks over a weekend to walk the whole of the Circuit of Bath route. We start from the public car park at Batheaston. Please note the car park is small, if it is full please park considerately on local roads.

We cross the River Avon and walk across the National Trust’s Bathampton Meadows, from there we walk along the Kennet and Avon canal to the Brassknocker Basin. We then follow the Midford Brook to Monkton Combe through Tucking Mill to Midford. We then follow the route of the disused Somerset Coal Canal before ascending to the Millenium View Point and the short level walk to the Odd Down Park and Ride.

Guided by your walk leaders we will return to the start point using public transport. Bring snacks and a packed lunch.

All walks by the Voluntary Wardens are free of charge however donations are very much appreciated and are usually collected at the end of the walk.

Please always remember to wear appropriate footwear because some walks may be steep and muddy in places. Assistance dogs (only) are welcome on walks. Warden Leaders will take all reasonable care and precautions but each walker is ultimately responsible for their own safety, and for determining their capability to complete the chosen walk.

It is advisable to check the website or call the Cotswolds Conservation Board (07841 663607) beforehand for details of any changes, particularly during bad weather.
