To mark National Canadian Film Day, Alliance Française Vancouver invites you to a free screening of the film Uiksaringitara (Wrong Husband), a historical drama directed by Zacharias Kunuk. A not-to-be-missed moment in cinema, part of the celebration celebration of Canadian cinema and cultural diversity. Launched in 2014, National Canadian Film Day has brought together hundreds of thousands of Canadians to celebrate the stories and incredible achievements of Canadian filmmakers.

Igloolik, Nunavut, 2000 avant notre ère. Kaujak (Theresia Kappianaq) et Sapa (Haiden Angutimarik) ont été promis l'un à l'autre dès leur naissance. Après la mort soudaine du père de Kaujak, sa mère épouse un homme d'un autre camp, séparant ainsi les jeunes amoureux. La promesse d'une vie meilleure se transforme rapidement en cauchemar, avec des prétendants agressifs soutenus par un chaman maléfique qui rivalisent pour gagner la main de Kaujak. Mais Kaujak résiste, s'accrochant à l'espoir que Sapa réparera un jour les torts causés.

Igloolik, Nunavut, 2000 BCE. Kaujak (Theresia Kappianaq) and Sapa (Haiden Angutimarik) were promised to each other at birth. After the sudden death of Kaujak’s father, her mother marries a man from another camp tearing the young lovers apart. The promise of a better life quickly turns to a nightmare, with aggressive suitors backed by an evil shaman vying to win Kaujak’s hand. But Kaujak resists, holding on to hope that Sapa will one day make things right.
