Cinema 16

Our showcase of experimental and avant-garde film is named for one of the greatest film societies in history and one of the first venues where experimental film was exhibited in America. In the late 1940’s, Amos and Marcia Vogel ran Cinema 16 in New York City, bringing important films from overseas and making space for the burgeoning American avant-garde. The films in this block range from cinematic poems to radical material experiments to found obscenities. Cinema 16 at OCFF carries forward the tradition of challenging the possibilities of what film can do, say, and be.
