Chunky Knit Vest (Advanced Beginner) Workshop

Learn to knit your first garment with this fun and quick (relatively) chunky knit vest. Blend up to 3 yarn colors or stick to your favorite hue to make a versatile vest. The fit is roomy, forgiving and it goes well with short and long sleeves. This is perfect to keep you warm and stylish all Winter long! In this workshop, we will cover the following topics:

• How to use a circular needle vs. long needles
• Casting on and off for a ribbed edge
• Counting and marking stitches
• Basics of Reading a pattern
• How to pick up stitches
• Stitch counting and alternatives for sizing
• Changing color
• Piecing and Blocking a garment

This is an advanced knitting workshop for those who have already had some experience with simple projects such as a scarf or hat. You should be familiar with casting on and off and both Knit and Perl stitches. If not, check out our beginner knitting workshops first.:)
If you choose to bring your own yarn and knitting supplies, we recommend at least 3 skeins (or the equivalent of 190 yards) of jumbo yarn (Size 7), 2 stitch marks, and a pair of 20MM circular knitting needles with 36" long loops. The yarn volume listed here should be enough to make a vest for Woman's S - L or Men's Medium. If you need a larger sized garment, you may need more yarn.

If you don't have your own supplies, select the "Include materials" option during checkout and select from our store when you arrive for the workshop.

Materials provided (if you don't supply your own): 3 skeins of jumbo yarn, matching circular knitting needles, and stitch markers.
