Christum wir sollen loben schon (BWV 121); Gottlob! nun geht das Jahr zu Ende (BWV 28)

Get a jump start on the holiday season with two Christmastide cantatas!
Both of today's cantatas capture an irrepressible sense of rejoicing for the birth of Jesus; both also feature a special instrumental combination of cornetto and three trombones, which had long had sacred associations.
We ask for a donation at each session of $20 per person to cover a stipend for the music director and other expenses. But any amount is welcome, and no one is turned away.
