Third year at it at the same pit with the same bad decisions.

Slowpokes is teaming up with Christie Cross again to run the thing you're not supposed to run. A 3km cyclocross course, in the dark, in October. Sand pits, barriers, off-camber turns, a hill that has personally wronged several of us. The night before the bike race, we take over the course on foot.

Three heats. Pick one, or pick all three. We're not your coach or your mommy.

Heat 1 - 6:10pm · Party Laps · 3km (non-competitive)
The warm-up. Run it, jog it, walk it, film it for the story. Scope out the sand pit before it ruins your life later. Zero pressure. Vibes to the max.

Heat 2 - 6:45pm · Cash Laps · 6km (competitive)
The elite race, but now there's money on it. $10 cash to enter (bring actual paper money, nobody's e-transferring at a start line in the dark). Two laps, everyone's ten bucks goes in the pot, and the fastest man and fastest woman split it and walk home rich. Second place gets nothing. Third place gets less than nothing. This is the King and Queen of Christie Pits race and now it's personal.

Heat 3 - 7:30pm · Beer Lap · 3km (competitive)
The main event and the reason your friends are here. One lap, three beers. One at the start, one at halfway, one before the line. All Burdock, all the way down. Non-alcoholic options available, so nobody's sitting this out. 19+ only. Prizes for the top three men and women. Run fast, drink faster, hold it down.

And the winners take home The Brick. It is a brick. It lives on your shelf for one year. It is the highest honour this club offers. IT MUST BE RETURNED. You bring it back next October or we come find you. Run fast, drink faster, guard the brick...

@altrarunning is on site with a shoe demo. Try a pair of trail shoes on an actual cyclocross course instead of a treadmill in a mall. Show up early if you want your size.

Fine print, read it:
⚠️ Headlamps are mandatory. It's pitch black out there and we're not carrying you off the course.
⚠️ Trail shoes strongly recommended. Road shoes on wet grass is a choice. (See above - Altra's got you.)
⚠️ Waiver required for all racers!
⚠️ Costumes are mandatory. (Legally they're not. Spiritually they are.) Prize for the best one, and yes, people go hard.
