About this Event
Jesus frequently commented on various crimes, including M**der and theft, sexual offenses and morality infractions, as well as fraud and deceit in daily dealings. Christ reaffirmed the rich tradition of the Ten Commandments and the laws of the Old Testament yet offered up a newer vision of crime and culpability in the New Testament. Side by side with this examination, Christ confirmed the right of both the nation-state and communities to make judgments about behavior that should not only be condemned and negatively judged, but also that there will be eternal consequences for criminal behavior. The course not only highlights the various forms of behavior that constitute crime and at the same time, provides rationalizations for punishment offered by Christ Himself.
The course shall be a half-day event, held on Franciscan’s beautiful campus. A summary of the course coverage includes:
· Theological Contortions and Moral Judgment
· Hell and its Centrality in Christ’s Moral Judgment
· Christ, Crime and the Decalogue
· M**der as an Intentional Act: From Within the Person
· Licentiousness, Lewd and Lascivious Behavior
