FREE Community Shred Truck (9am–12pm)
Looking for an easy way to dispose of those sensitive documents that you no longer need, like old tax returns, financial documents, medical records, and other papers that you don't want to just throw in the trash? Bring up to five boxes of documents to our shredding truck, sponsored by Jay Jack Realtor & Associates. Please remove all binder clips, staples, plastic and other objects that can't be shredded. Please recycle your junk mail and magazines.
Canned Food Drive for Rising Hope (9am–12pm)
Along with your unwanted sensitive documents, we invite you to bring in shelf-stable, unexpired food donations to support food pantries at the Rising Hope Mission Church, which serves as a lifeline and outreach for the food- or housing-insecure population along the Rt. 1 corridor in Alexandria. Examples of donation items include:
canned proteins (tuna, chicken, beans)
canned soups and chili
vegetable/salad oils
cornmeal and dry baking goods
canned fruits and vegetables
peanut butter and jelly
dry pasta and jarred/canned pasta sauce, boxed mac & cheese, etc.
Native Plant & Garden Market (9am–2pm)
Buy something to plant after you purge! After you've unloaded your documents and your food donations, swing by the back parking lot for a visit with Virginia native plant nurseries and local community vendors selling items to spruce up your home and garden for the spring. Not only is it better for our ecosystem to use native plants in your landscaping, but a portion of the proceeds from these sales will benefit Christ Church. Garden sale continues until 2pm, so you'll have plenty of time to shop after you shred.
NEW ADDITION: Blood Drive (9am–2pm)
Sign up for a 15-minute time slot now, and then join us inside the church's gathering area to lend support to the INOVA Health System's supply of blood.
