Chinese New Year is a key celebration for Chinese and British Chinese communities, including here in Newcastle. The city’s annual Chinese New Year parade has become a much-loved community event. 🧧
This is our first year marking the festival at the museum and we’re excited to add to the celebrations.🥳
Featuring:
✂️ Window Blossom Making – Create beautiful paper cut-out blossoms to decorate the museum and take home for good luck in the New Year!
🏮 New Year Wishes – Write your hopes for the year ahead and hang them on our glowing lantern wish wall.
🍵 Chinese Tea Tasting – Discover the flavours and traditions of Chinese tea with a special tasting experience with special brews of Jasmine and Oolong
🍡 Sweet Rice Cake Tasting – Try delicious traditional New Year rice cakes symbolising prosperity and togetherness.
🧩 Solve the Lantern Riddles – Put your thinking cap on and crack the classic Chinese lantern riddles for festive fun!
🦁 Lion Dance – 2:30pm – Experience a vibrant burst of colour, music and movement as the Lion Dance brings good fortune for the year ahead!
