About this Event
CCPT Training: Deeper Empathy, Stages, Themes, (3 CEs)
Ready to go deeper with your CCPT Skills?
Do you feel lost identifying Stages and themes?
Do you want opportunities to go deeper with your empthay?
Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a dynamic Play Therapy modality which involves many skills. Even after completing my certification and using it for 12 years I am still learning, developing, and gaining greater appreciation for what this model offers children.
The purpose of this 3 hr. workshop is to help experienced Child-Centered Play Therapists go deeper with their CCPT understanding and skills. In this training we will go deeper into play therapy themes and stages of play to increase one’s ability to conceptualize how the child is utilizing therapeutic play and the therapeutic relationship for healing, as well as how to accurately document play sessions. We will spend some time on connecting what is happening in the play sessions with treatment plan goals.
Empathy is an art that can strengthen and deepen with practice. We will discuss some of the variety of directions and levels you can empathize with. Through demonstration, practice and role play, participants will be able to practice their empathy skills.
In the spirit of CCPT, hands-on, experiential learning will abound in this training. We will utilize role play, lecture, and handouts to include multiple learning styles and provide ample practice. Space will be limited to a small number of participants in order to provide effective coaching.
This would be an intermediate level training so at least a 2-day CCPT training in the fundamentals of CCPT is recommended. This training is for various levels of play therapists who are looking to increase their skills or veterans who just want a fun refresher.
Prerequisite: This training is for licenced mental health professionals, or current students studying to become licensed in a mental health field.
It is required that participants have had a 2-day basic workshop (or equivalent grad class) in CCPT. After registration you will receive an email requesting the dates of the CCPT training (or class) you attended.
Learning Objectives
Following this workshop, participants will be able to:
1) Identify play themes in Child-Centered Play Therapy to inform progress.
2) Determine stages of play in Child-Centered Play Therapy to inform progress and termination.
3) Demonstrate an ability to provide empathy in Child-Centered Play Therapy on a deeper level connecting with a variety of client experiences.
