An event exploring the ways in which our environment, both historic and contemporary, influences population health.
About this Event

Please join us for the Cheshire & Merseyside Health Protection Learning Event on Wednesday 18 November 2026. The event will begin at 9.00am with breakfast, registration and networking, and conclude at 1.00pm.

The event will be chaired by Professor Helen Bromley, Director of Public Health, Cheshire West & Chester Council and lead director for Health Protection.

Bringing together colleagues from environmental health, public health and health protection, the event will explore the ways in which our environment, both historic and contemporary, influences population health.

Through a programme of expert-led presentations and interactive discussions, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding, share knowledge and experience, and reflect on the industrial and environmental factors that continue to shape health outcomes across Cheshire and Merseyside. The event will also offer practical insights, examples of good practice and valuable networking opportunities, supporting greater collaboration in addressing current and emerging health protection challenges.

We are delighted to be joined by Sarah Johnson-Griffiths, Consultant in Health Protection from the UK Health Security Agency, Dave Watson, Head of Public Protection and Community Safety, Warrington Council & Dr Samuel Tweed, Clinical Research Fellow, NIHR Health Protection, Research Unit, University of Liverpool

The event will include two facilitated interactive discussion sessions, running concurrently, giving delegates the opportunity to explore key themes in greater depth and consider how learning can be translated into practice:
