Cherry Blossom Season History Walk on the Capitol Building Grounds, DC, April 7!
During the world-famous cherry blossom season, take a walking tour of the U.S. Capitol Building grounds. Originally landscaped by the creator of New York's Central Park, Frederick Law Olmstead. The Capitol is renowned for its stunning architecture and flora, including trees and bushes from almost every state. Yet its interior and grounds have also held court to 225 years of wild events--by powerful men, and some unscrupulous women! Making for a fun history tour of duels, riots, bombings, protest marches, and assorted and sordid acts of revenge! And many noble feats as well.
When: Monday, April 7, 5:30 pm
What: A walking tour of the Capitol’s grounds that covers over two centuries of hidden, fascinating history.
Where: MEET at the U.S. Grant statue, First Street NW, Washington DC, 20003, between the west lawn and the reflecting pool. NOTE that this app does Not show the correct address--meet at the Grant statue.
Length. About 2 hours.
