Chapel Hill Garden Club 2026 Garden Tour

Celebrate Spring! Chapel Hill Garden Club’s popular Garden Tour returns April 25 & 26, 2026. “Sculpted & Soaring Skyward” offers an exclusive, self-guided tour of five of the area’s finest private gardens plus three public gardens affiliated with UNC.

Sculpted & Soaring Skyward gives visitors the rare opportunity to stroll five distinctive private Chapel Hill area gardens where unique visions of beauty, preservation, sustainability and design are on full display. See stunning spring blooms, majestic trees and rock formations on the National Historic Register, a certified wildlife and butterfly sanctuary, a soothing Japanese-inspired design, and a plant collector’s paradise. Learn from knowledgeable experts at each location. Don’t miss the North Carolina Botanical Garden, and their affiliated Carolina Community Garden and American Indian Cultural Garden.

Tour proceeds benefit the expanding Children’s Wonder Garden and programs at the NC Botanical Garden as well as the educational/community service programs of the Chapel Hill Garden Club.

THE GARDENS

The Allison Garden (restored historic Coker Burns property) highlights Chapel Hill’s deep horticultural history, featuring striking rock formations, impressive mature trees, a picturesque cluster of mature camellia shrubs, and several distinct garden rooms that invite exploration.

The Gourley/Euler Garden showcases ancient rock formations and more than 55 mature trees, complemented by both sun- and shade-loving plantings. A tranquil pond beckons with water lilies and other aquatic plants.

The Huckshorn/Mazade Garden, once a tobacco farm, has been transformed into a series of engaging garden rooms designed to attract abundant wildlife. Many flower species, conifers and native grasses embrace the lush gardens surrounding the home.

The King Garden is a plant lover’s oasis, with winding paths that reveal sensory delights, garden art features, and botanical surprises at every turn.

The McGraw Garden reflects Japanese influences through carefully placed stones, intentional plant choices, and restrained ornamentation that together create a harmonious, serene experience.

The American Indian Cultural Garden, located across from the American Indian Center on the UNC campus, serves as a living testament to North Carolina’s rich Native American heritage.

The Carolina Community Garden, on the outer edge of the UNC campus, offers a year-round harvest of fruits and vegetables, while fostering community engagement and environmental stewardship.

The North Carolina Botanical Garden is the state’s premier home for native plants, showcasing diverse habitats and immersive displays of perennials in naturalistic settings.

-- Exchange your Eventbrite barcode receipt (PREFERABLY PRINTED) for the full-color ticket booklet filled with complete descriptions and discount coupons on the day of the tour AT ANY OF THE FIVE PRIVATE GARDENS AND NC BOTANICAL GARDEN.

-- Tour takes place rain or shine. No refunds.

-- Gardens may be visited in any order

-- Pets, strollers, and smoking are not permitted in the gardens.

-- Gardens are not ADA compliant and handicapped access is limited.

-- Limited parking at some gardens. Please consider carpooling.

-- Photography is permitted.

-- Restroom and water bottle refill station at NC Botanical Garden.
