Time to get into the holiday spirit and create some special pieces for gifting and maybe for your home too!
Local ceramic artist, Mitch Segall will guide the class through the fun and festive process of creating unique, customized ornaments. This beginner-friendly workshop offers a good introduction to the techniques used for creating tiles, plates, and other flat work in porcelain. You’ll learn how to effectively roll out clay, cut shapes, and create textures.
The ornaments will be glazed and fired in the kiln to ensure that you have a special holiday decoration to display for years to come. No experience is necessary and all tools and materials are provided.
Please note, your ornaments will be ready to pick up a few days after the workshop, when the kiln firing is complete. You can pick up during our regular shop hours. POST staff will call everyone when the projects are ready for pick up!
About the Instructor:
Mitch Segall is a native Michigander, a proud MSU alum, and the founder of Central Ceramics Co. He has been working with clay for nearly 20 years and teaching for over 10 years. Mitch has apprenticed in a number of pottery studios and is the manager of Pewabic Pottery’s gallery shop. He loves exploring shape, texture, and color, and stretching those elements within the limitations of clay. Mitch’s current body of work reflects the aesthetics and inspirations discovered during his time living in Central America.
