Lost in the Wilds: A Ramble Woodland Expedition

Ditch the city grid and step into Manhattan's most delightfully confusing forest! Join Moonstone & Mulberry and Visualizing Herbalism on Saturday, August 8th (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM) for an adventure deep inside The Ramble. Designed to mimic the rugged mountain escapes of upstate New York, this 36-acre woodland is a maze of twisting dirt trails, hidden stone arches, and rushing streams where the city sounds completely vanish.

For this late-summer edition, we are shifting our focus to the lush woodland plants and dense forest canopy that thrive in this shaded sanctuary. We’ll navigate the winding pathways together, stepping off the asphalt to discover how nature takes over when left to run a little wild.

Prepare for your noggin to explode with cool facts as we explore:

• Woodland Botany: Decode the secrets of shade-loving plants, forest floor foliage, and the towering trees creating the Ramble's famous dense canopy.
• Forest Ph*rm*cy & Feast: Learn the traditional medicinal applications and unexpected culinary uses of native woodland flora.
• Tales from the Trails: We’ll unearth the rich folklore and historical storytelling that have grown beneath the shadow of these deep woods over the centuries.

This walk is perfect for nature lovers of all levels who want to experience Central Park's most untamed corner. Come ready to get a little lost in the best way possible!

What to Expect

• The Terrain: True to its name, this walk features rustic, narrow dirt trails, uneven stone steps, and winding paths. Wear stable, comfortable footwear!
• The Pace: Relaxed and exploratory. We will be navigating the "maze" slowly, stopping to examine plants tucked away in hidden enclaves.
• The Vibe: Adventurous, immersive, and deeply connected to nature.

We will meet at the Oak Bridge (before crossing into the Ramble). Your guides will be white t-shirts with "Thistle be fun - NYC Plants Walks" printed on it.
