Central Florida Plant Tours - Ormond Central Park
About this Event
Discover the edible and useful plants growing all around us
During the tour, you’ll learn how to recognize local plants, what makes them distinctive, which parts may be edible or useful, how certain plants are traditionally prepared, and what potentially harmful look-alikes or environmental hazards to watch for.
These tours are designed to be educational, beginner-friendly, and hands-on. We’ll slow down, look closely, ask questions, and explore plants that many of us walk past every day without realizing what they are.
Some of the plants we will discuss in this tour include:
- Sugar Hackberry
- Cedar
- Pony's Foot
- Lyreleaf Sage
- Greenbriars
Plant availability changes with the seasons, weather, and location, so every tour will be a little different.
No participant is required to taste, touch, harvest, or consume any plant. If tasting opportunities or samples are offered, participation is completely voluntary.
Important: This is an educational plant-identification tour. Participation does not give permission to harvest or remove plants from public or private property. Always positively identify wild plants using multiple reliable sources before consuming them independently.
