Dr. Oselenonome “Onome” Oboh was born and raised in Los Angeles, California as the second child of four born to Nigerian American immigrants. She went on to get her bachelor of science in Biology with a Chemistry minor at Xavier University of Louisiana. She went on to get a Master of Global Medicine at the University of Southern California before graduating from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine with her degree in medicine. She is now an Internal Medicine/Pediatrics combined physician practicing at KP in the AFM department with a focus on outpatient Maternal and Child Health. Throughout her journey, Dr. Oboh has developed her understanding of a successful premedical applicant through the lens of both historically Black and predominantly white institutions, and used this understanding to successfully guide premedical students on their paths to medicine. This passion led her to become a founding member and current Co-Chief Programming Officer for Be the Plug, a nonprofit founded to keep the pipeline open for minoritized premedical students, medical students, and trainees.
