Every historic building tells a story, shaped by the generations of people who have cared for it over the years.
This September, the historic log cabin that is home to Angela Lensch Gallery celebrates its 100th anniversary as part of the Egg Harbor community. To honor the occasion, the gallery will host Celebrating a Century, a free community celebration on Wednesday, September 9, from 1–7 p.m. The event celebrates a century-old landmark that continues to bring together creativity, craftsmanship, music and community.
Visitors are invited to stop in throughout the afternoon to explore the gallery, view an extended collection of fine art, meet the artists, and enjoy live performances by resident kinetic sculptor and musician Tony Bessen, Door County favorite Dorothy Scott, and Upper Peninsula duo Arvon, featuring Bobbie Blackburn and Eli Smith. Blackburn is also among the gallery's represented artists. Seating will be limited so feel free to bring a chair to enjoy the live performances from 4-7p.
The celebration will also feature a special one-day expanded collection of handcrafted fine woodworking by nationally recognized artist David Hymes, whose work reflects the timeless beauty of wood, thoughtful design and exceptional craftsmanship.
Local Door County artist Kandy Otto will also be onsite demonstrating the art of copper repousse with an extended collection of her work also.
For a century, this cabin has remained part of Egg Harbor through the care and dedication of those who have valued it along the way. The centennial celebrates that legacy and offers an opportunity to recognize the importance of preserving historic buildings so they can continue serving and enriching our communities for generations to come.
Parking is available onsite or park in the Village and follow the sidewalk to our gallery.
