Celebrate History - 70th Anniversary of the 1st Girl Scout Senior Roundup

Join us for an exciting day to celebrate the history of the 1st Girl Scout National Senior Roundup at the GSSEM Council Museum. This one-day event is open to everyone! There will be an outdoor, mini-Roundup tent area. Everyone can participate in the re-creation of 1956 historic hands-on badge activities. You can add your talent to a community art piece, make crafts, and participate in songs, games and more! Our Council Museum will host displays of event photos, memorabilia, and scrapbooks so guests can see what the Roundup was really like.

EVENT TIMES:
• This is an open house style event running from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Perfect for those who want a short outing and those who want to make a day of it.
• Check in is anytime from 10:00 AM to 1:45 PM
• Lunch is served from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
• Bonus activities at Highland Recreational Area run from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM (Please check in at the White Lake Service Center first.)
EVENT LOCATIONS:
• Check-in, lunch, and most of the activities are at the GSSEM White Lake Service Center. 8545 Highland Rd, White Lake, MI 48386
• Additional activities at Highland Recreational Area (5200 Highland Road, White Lake, Michigan, 48383) are included in the price of your ticket. Participants will need to drive less than five miles to this location. Please Note – Highland Recreational Activity is a state park and requires a Recreation Passport. PICNIC LUNCH (Served at White Lake Service Center)

Q. Who can attend this event?
A. This event is open to all current girl and adult members, their families, and guests.
Q. Where was the site of the 1956 National Senior Roundup?
A. The 1956 Roundup took place at the Highland State Recreation Area, less than 5 miles from the Council Museum.
Q. Why are there three suggested arrival times? Am I only allowed to stay for two hours?
A. You can stay for as long as you want! This is a free flowing, all-day event. Activity stations will be open all day and there is no timed schedule. With that in mind we encourage you to stagger arrival times to ease parking lot congestion.
Q. What is the additional cost to visit the original Roundup site at the Highland State Recreation Area?
A. The activities are included in your ticket price however Highland Recreation Area is a state park and requires a Recreation Passport for entry. If you do not have a Recreation Passport for your vehicle, one can be purchased at the park. Please go to https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/buy-and-apply/rec-pp for more information.
Q. What if it rains?
A. The event will take place rain or shine, just like the original Roundup! Many of our activities will take place inside the Service Center, but we look forward to our outdoor activities! Dress for the weather.
