The Canadian Black Literature Institute, producers of BlackLit Durham, proudly present the inaugural Canadian Black Literary Festival (#CBLF2026) on August 29, 2026, at McLean Community Centre and the St. Francis Centre in Ajax, Ontario.
It’s the first-ever Black-led, Black-serving, literature-only, multi-genre, annual festival amplifying Afrodescendent literary voices in Canadian history.
Our founding one-day festival aims to connect audiences through various literary styles and genres to the narratives, voices, and stories of Black Canadians. Our long-term vision is to create Canada’s premier literary event attracting the best and brightest Afrodescendent writers from across the global African diaspora.
