The world’s most radical swing band is back! Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, Cats and Dinosaurs have gained a worldwide following with their punk inflected vintage jazz and politically charged lyrics. The long-awaited fifth album, Sabotage, is an explosive cocktail of catchy swing, heartbreaking ballads and jazzy punk bangers, capturing both the wild energy of their live shows and their most tender moments yet.About Sabotage
Coming out a full six years after their last studio album, Sabotage has been eagerly anticipated by left wing swing fans all over the world. Recorded and mixed during an intense summer week at Studio Folkhemmet in the small village of Unnaryd, Sweden. Hitting the studio after a long period of extensive touring, Cats and Dinosaurs has captured the raw nerve and joyful energy of their celebrated live performances. Fans of their previous albums will feel right at home with this new collection of swinging tunes and provocative lyrics, tackling everything from climate anxiety and sabotage incitement to heteronormativity and the death of neoliberalism.
On Sabotage, the band pushes their music further than ever, effortlessly moving between gentle jazz crooning and all-out punk bedlam. The album also expands Cats and Dinosaurs’ musical universe with a wider range of styles and theatrical elements, including songs from their recent ventures in musical theatre. As icing on the cake, they’ve teamed up once again with prominent Swedish cartoonist and satirist Sara Granér for the album’s amazing cover art.
Ten years of swingin’ on the barricades
Cats and Dinosaurs have been playing together since 2014, celebrating ten years as a band this fall. While their quirky vintage jazz will get every dance floor going, it is their political lyrics and punk attitude that has captured hearts all over the world. With a blend of naive playfulness and rough, bluesy edges, they honor the jazz pioneers not by copying them note by note but by embracing their energy, creativity and radical attitude. They have released four full length albums on independent record label PACAYA records, each well received both in Sweden and abroad. But their main reputation is built on their high-powered live shows, where songs like “Work Less!”, “Male Privilege” and “International Solidarity” are delivered in a surreal mix of jazz cabaret, sing-a-long and political rally. After a decade on the barricades, their ideals remains the same: making songs to fan the flames of discontent!
”The humour and the satire comes from all directions, and the groove is genuine. These
musicians can really play!”
