The study of proteins is emerging as a potentially powerful tool in wildlife forensics. Proteins can deliver species-level and tissue-specific information which can identify samples to species-level or sometimes population-level, in the absence of preserved DNA. In this presentation, I will introduce protein fingerprinting, one of the main techniques for protein-based sample identity, and how this can be applied to a variety of wildlife forensic-related research questions, such as the analysis of traditional Chinese medicines, or uncovering mislabelling in the food industry.Talk starts at 19:30, but we'll be there from 19:00 so join us for a drink beforehand!
