Cartography and Mapping Workshop - Summary

The Cartography and Mapping Workshop is a three-day intensive program funded by the Researcher-led Initiative Award, providing comprehensive training in map creation and design.

Day 1: GIS Fundamentals (8 June) Learn how to create simple maps using ArcGIS, covering cartography basics, ArcGIS operations, and basemap processing.

Day 2: Design and Visual Style (9 June) Master Photoshop and Illustrator to create maps with depth, meaning, and professional visual style through hands-on sessions. (Learn to create a map by following an example)

Day 3: Research Showcase (22 June) Present your research maps in a collaborative environment. Maps don't need to be complete—bring works-in-progress and discuss with peers how to refine and improve your cartographic work (Show your own map created by the skills this workshop provided).

This activity is a Researcher-led Initiative that has been funded by the University of Exeter Researcher Development and Research Culture team
