About this Event

We are incredibly excited to bring this show to Sioux Falls!!!

CARRIE NATION & THE SPEAKEASY (CNS) is a high-energy quintet from Wichita, KS, USA. The band, whose sound has been described as “...a stagecoach in overdrive” and “dark, psychedelic speedfolk”, has performed their signature blend of strings and horns across 49 states and 9 countries since 2007.

CNS has built a solid grassroots following with their energetic live show and ability to fit on bills ranging from bluegrass to punk; rockabilly to ska. Thoughtful songwriting is delivered through dynamic arrangements and unconventional instrumentation. Throaty vocals glide over percussive guitar. Mandolin solos melt into blaring trombone lines at breakneck speed, while the upright bass and rock-solid drums churn out aggressive rhythms that carry the force of a Kansas freight train. Psychedelic soundscapes are punctuated by downright amphetaminic tempos and controlled cacophony. Anything but derivitive, CNS has developed a singular style that continues to bemuse newcomers and delight loyal fans.

The band’s DIY approach has been evident in their self-recorded albums, self-published music, self-booked tours, and collaborations with local and regional visual artists. A live CNS performance is a loud, fast, sweeping journey to a brand new destination.

Joining them for the evening is local act, MISTY CANS AND THE HORNY TOADS. A local Sioux Falls act whose sound blurs the lines between country, folk, rock, with a little punk attitude. The Ditchwater Bullfrogs are a Sioux City, lowa-based, multi-instrumental roots band. With over 125 years of combined musical experience, the five-piece group playfully refuses to fit into a single musical genre, blending upbeat bluegrass, folk, Americana, Southern rock, and blues.

The band evolved from a local group called the "Central Time Band". After the tragic passing of their main vocalist and guitarist, Rick Borg, in early 2021, the surviving members took a hiatus. In

2022, a jam session at Vangarde Arts open mic helped breathe new life into the project. They needed a name for a fast-approaching festival, so they adopted "Ditchwater Bullfrogs"-a title derived from an original song written by Central Time's Bob Larson in tribute to Rick Borg before he passed away.

A defining trademark of the band is that all five members take turns on lead vocals, utilizing a massive arsenal of instruments including guitars, mandolin, harmonica, banjo, dobro, bass, and percussion.

We are announcing this one plenty early to get the word out. This is a special show for Sioux Falls!

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door!
