Jerry Leggett: A Fifty-Year Homecoming to USF
About this Event
One stage. Fifty years of songs.
Fifty years ago, Jerry Leggett was a University of Sioux Falls student with a guitar, writing songs and performing from the stage of Meredith Auditorium. On September 20, he returns to that same stage—bringing five decades of music, stories and life experience with him.
Jerry Leggett: A Fifty-Year Homecoming to USF is part concert, part storytelling, part homecoming and part around-the-campfire experience.
Expect music that moves from rousing folk-rock and percussive acoustic guitar to pop ballads, jazz-infused sounds and quieter songs that invite reflection. Jerry will share original music from across his career—including songs whose beginnings reach back to his student years—as well as familiar music from the era that first inspired him.
There will be stories from the road, moments of humor, multimedia, opportunities to sing together, and a chance to consider a deceptively simple question:
What song would you carry with you for fifty years?
This isn’t a lecture about belonging. It’s an opportunity to experience it.
Come hear the music. Sing if you feel like it. Hear something familiar. Discover something new. And experience what can happen when a roomful of people gathers for a while to listen, laugh, remember—and perhaps find their way back to one another.
The afternoon also introduces Hope Beyond Borders — Singing Our Way Back to Each Other, an emerging initiative using music, storytelling and community participation to explore belonging and connection.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls is the event’s featured local nonprofit beneficiary, connecting the afternoon’s conversation about belonging with the very tangible work of helping people create a place to call home.
