About the artists:
Kelley Smith
Minnesota songwriter Kelley Smith is a wallflower who fancies old poetry and grandpa sweaters. All at once whimsical and haunting, Smith delivers deeply affecting lyrics with wry charm and a time traveler's voice. Prone to melancholy and daydreaming, Kelley spent her childhood roaming the woods of the north country. To this day, her longing for that landscape runs deep and seems to find its way into her songs in one way or another. ”In its truest form, folk music requires us to slow down, listen closely, and let ourselves be absorbed by stories that take us to another place and time. These organic and unvarnished songs reflect life experiences that could as easily come from past lives as they could from Kelley’s soul.” – David Dennison, Rieder Homestead Concerts
Carriage House is a husband and wife folk/americana duo originally out of Indianapolis and now living in the driftless region of Minnesota after having toured nationwide in their converted van. They released their first album ‘Further From Our Youth’ on the eve of their Spring tour in 2021. Jeff has been a songwriter and musician for a number of years, both solo and with his full band ‘Jeff Kelly and the Graveyard Shift', and Jenna has always had an ear for harmonies. Combining their strengths they picked up the guitar and banjo and started writing and sharing some songs about love, longing, and pandemic times.
We ask for a minimum of $6 per adult listener with all money collected going to the artists.
