About this Event
About This Class
Plants that eat bugs might sound unusual, but entire plant families have adapted to do exactly that. One such family of plants, Nepenthes, also known as tropical pitcher plants, has perfected this art. With over 170 species, these plants grow in nutrient-poor soils by attracting, trapping, and digesting insects for the nutrients the soil lacks.
Luckily, many of these species and their hybrids are available, and you too can own one of these amazing carnivorous plants! Niche, interesting, beautiful, and rewarding to grow, you can have your own form of pest control that can live for decades with good care. They can be diminutive like Nepenthes Mikei, or monstrous like Nepenthes Raja.
