Cardiff Dance Lab - CPD & Movement Research Day

A Free day combining a 3-hour movement lab with a 1-hour performance of The Poetics of Hands Meeting led by Billy Maxwell Taylor.
About this Event

What is involved?

1.5 morning ambient dance class led by Billy Maxwell Taylor, sharing his movement practice. This will involve improvisation, meditation and some contact invitations.

We'll then enter an indepth laboratory session where we can experiment in pairs or small groups with contact and partnering, going to the depths that are often not acheiveable in typical class lengths. This will be a space of collective inquiry, working together to expand our individual and communal practice. The second movement lab will allow us to consider the philosophy of being an artist in day to day life, re-connecting to why we dance without it having to be for an application or marketing copy. What is the core of our artistic being and how can we tend to it?

The day will finish with an exclusive pre-public sharing of The Poetics of Hands Meeting, performed by Billy Maxwell Taylor and Liam Wallace. This piece explores our hands potentials to craft, connect and communicate, offering tactile invitations to the audience whilst grounding in a rolling soundscape of interviews and Gayageum.

Travel: if you are Wales-based wish to travel from further than South Wales, please do get in contact about travel support. I have dedicated a small amount of budget towards this as I am aware of the extra costs travelling brings and would not want this to be a barrier.
