About this Event
Overview
This course is aimed at leadership and management staff working in a local authority environment across the south west of England. Section 151 officers are especially encouraged to apply.
This event is part of the Carbon Literacy Training funded by the South West Net Zero Hub.
Carbon Literacy is ‘an awareness of the impacts and costs of climate change on everyday activities, it also supports the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.’
Course details
This training is in-person and covers one full day, running from 09:30 – 17:00, as well as some individual study ahead of the session (around 1 hour) that will give you a well-rounded insight into the climate emergency. To achieve the certification, you will be required to submit a short evidence form after the course, including two pledges, to the Carbon Literacy Project who will certify you.
Spaces are limited, so please only sign up if you can commit to the entire session and to completing the post-course evidence form. If there are no spaces but you would like to join the waiting list, please contact [email protected].
What will I learn?
With a third of the UK’s emissions directly influenced by local authority practice, policy and partnerships, local authorities have a vital role to play in the UK’s decarbonisation. This course aims to help embed climate action at all levels of your local authority; enabling cross-departmental knowledge building, collaboration and empowerment to achieve net zero targets.
The practical, solution-focused content helps identify examples of carbon reduction across the sector, whilst group activities provide an opportunity to work together with other professionals to develop new ideas.
By sharing and showcasing best practice, knowledge and expertise, we can make informed decisions to address the scale and urgency of the climate emergency. You will leave the training with tangible and clear ideas on the methods through which you can directly reduce carbon emissions within your role, local authority and across the sector.
Upon completion of the training and evidence form, you can join over 150,000 learners to gain Carbon Literacy certification.
Who is this course for?
