Capturing Light: The Art of Cyanotype with Big Blue Sun
About this Event
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the magic of cyanotype, an early photographic process that uses sunlight to create rich blue prints. We’ll cover the process from start to finish, from preparing light-sensitive materials to composing with botanicals and exposing your prints in the sun.
You’ll experiment with a variety of natural elements - including flowers, plants and leaves - to create one-of-a-kind compositions, and produce several prints over the course of the class. By the end, you’ll leave with your own original artwork and the knowledge to continue exploring sun printing on your own.
MEET THE MAKER:
Vanessa Bauza is the artist behind Big Blue Sun, a botanical cyanotype studio. Using plants gathered from her garden, local woods, and everyday walks, she creates one-of-a-kind sun prints on paper, fabric, and vintage textiles. Her workshops guide participants through the cyanotype process, offering a chance to slow down, experiment, and leave with beautiful prints inspired by nature.
